While this Pokemon exploit isn’t quite as infamous as MissingNo, it is certainly one of the sneakiest on this list. When trading creatures between two systems, it’s possible to ignore the safety warning and safely switch off the systems at a very specific time, severing the link but duplicating the traded Pokemon across both systems. It’s a risk-filled plan but when done correctly leaves you with no data corruption on either side. Not only did it allow players to duplicate Pokemon, but since they could also equip an item to the creature, it could provide them with multiple Master Balls and Rare Candys as well.
Remember, doing this could result in corrupting your savefile!
One of the most renowned exploits is MISSINGNO, a glitched encounter in the original Pokemon games that could corrupt game saves permanently. Encountered under specific circumstances, once players talked to a particular individual in Viridian City they then had to surf along the edge of Cinnabar Island to encounter MissingNo. While it was possible to capture and use him in battle (at the player’s own risk), simply fighting the d-shaped creature would increase the quantity of the sixth item in the player’s inventory by 128, meaning players could have unlimited supply Rare Candys or Master Balls. Despite Nintendo’s explicit warning that it would corrupt saves, the actual impact was minimal if players were careful, making it a real exploit of choice for devoted – if cheating – Pokemon fans.

Wow, we had a very busy weekend around here at the World of Pokemon site. We have been sitting on a huge pile of content that we are (slowly) adding to the site. Between the Pokemon Black & White Walkthroughs that we added the other day and now today with the addition of the Pokemon Heartgold Soulsilver Cheats page, I can take a deep breath and realize that while this is a good start, we have a ton more content that still needs to be added. What does that mean to you? Well, it means that in the coming days, weeks and months ahead we will be adding even more walkthroughs and cheats for all of your favorite Pokemon games!
