TT Games discusses the gameplay of LEGO Ninjago

by Pokémaster on April 14, 2011

A portion of a Nintendo Life interview with TT Games producer Vince Grogan…

NL: Can you tell us a little bit about the actual gameplay of Ninjago?

VG: The game is all about building a strong base while constructing an army capable of defeating your opponent. Your units are split into two types: Builders and Heroes. Builders can build and repair structures, as well as collect resources. Resources can be spent on building Hero units which can then be upgraded to gain extra abilities. Unlike our other LEGO games, instead of controlling one character, you’re in charge of controlling all the characters in your army. You can order them about by selecting them and touching on the screen where you want them to go or by touching an enemy to attack them. Once you have a healthy group of Hero units, you can use your weapons, spells and abilities against your opponent and try to take down its base.

Now that the Pokémon Global Link has relaunched within and launched outside Japan, the remaining Dream World art has been uploaded to the website.

Previously, only 630 out of 646 revealed Pokémon had the iconic artwork. Aside from the version mascots Reshiram and Zekrom, no species with a National Pokédex number higher than 628 had had their art released. The remaining Pokémon, from Vullaby through to Kyurem now have their own artwork. The only Pokémon that do not have Dream World artwork are Keldeo, Meloetta and Gensect, none of which have been officially revealed by Nintendo.

The fox that can fly makes his return this summer

Fox McCloud and his motley crew of wingmen are back this summer as they barrel roll their way into an upcoming Japanese release.

Announced back at E3 2010, Star Fox 64 3D is an updated 3DS instalment of Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64, and thanks to the depth perception achieved by the handheld’s 3D visuals, it will hopefully be a prime example of how a game can take advantage of this unique benefit.

Hi Friends,

Tomorrow, April 13th, is the official start for our next contest. Around 7:00pm (EST) the “Name That Pokemon” Facebook contest will begin. This contest will run for 10 days total (2 days in between each round) and the winners will get their choice of the Pokemon Black or Pokemon White posters that our local GameStop donated to us. Also, 1 lucky winner will get a special prize that is Pokémon card related.

Anyone can participate in this contest BUT it will only appear on the World of Pokemon Facebook page. For the time being, we will only be awarding prizes to winner here in the US but don’t fret, the month of May will bring us another contest that will be open to everyone on the site.

I sure hope you have been following the news here on the site because this will be a BIG help in the “Name That Pokemon” contest! I’ve already tested the first round ( that’s it at the top of this post but it is blurred out ;) ) and I stumped the pro’s (ha ha!!). That’s why everyone will get 2 days between each round, it make take that long to figure these out.

Just so everyone knows, each round will consist of 5 Pokemon numbered 1 through 5. I will only reveal a tiny part of each Pokemon AND they will be in black & white since they are from those games! (No color here, that gives too much away). You will need to correctly submit your answer to each post & in order.

There will be extra points for the first person who correctly names them all in each round. And while you can answer multiple times during each round, in the long run that will go against you. The people that correctly name all 25 Pokemon with the least amount of guesses at the end of the contest will win! Brush up on the new batch of Pokemon, have your reference materials handy and be ready @ 7pm EST.

Good Luck!

Why We Can’t Be Pokémon Bad Guys [Rocket Power]

by Pokémaster on April 11, 2011

In Pocket Monsters, “Team Rocket” is fairly harmless organized crime unit that steals, sells and captures rare and powerful Pokémon. The Team Rocket characters are typically comical, but surely, the concept of dealing in stolen Pocket Monsters is prime grist for a game. More »

Liberty Pass
The distribution date for the Liberty Pass has been extended, according to the official site. The event was previously set to end on April 10 for North America and April 22 for Europe, but the European end date has been put back to April 27. Though the North American version of the official site also mentions an extension, the end date for this is unclear.

This damn weekend stuff is getting ridiculous. Where in the world does the time go!? One minute I’m relaxing on the couch thinking about how the weekend is just ahead, and the next I’m staring Monday morning in the face. Someone is sneaking around and speeding up our clocks! I’ll think more about this paranoid idea as I drift off to sleep. See you in a few, short hours!

The talk over the last few days concerns Nintendo’s luck with 3DS sales thus far. As we’ve already said, the Big N isn’t going to reach the numbers they predicted prior to launch. As a matter of fact, it looks like they’ve managed to pull in just over half of what they wanted to do. That’s no doubt a shocker for quite a lot of people, Nintendo included. This early in a system’s life, it’s a little worrying to see initial sales targets missed by such a wide margin.

Obviously, plenty of you guys and gals picked up a 3DS on day one, but that doesn’t mean we’re all in the same boat. For those of us that picked up a 3DS, there are many more that haven’t plopped down the cash yet. You can be sure that the number of readers without 3DS’ on this site far outnumbers those of us that own one. That number will slowly change as the years go on, but right now the 3DS owners are in the minority.

That’s why I’m turning to those of you that haven’t picked up a 3DS yet. I’d love to hear your reasoning for holding back. I want to stress that I’m not questioning your decisions for not purchasing a 3DS yet. I’m also not trying to mock any of you in any way, shape or form. I’m simply reaching out because I’m curious, and I bet a few other readers are as well.

What’s your motivation for holding back on purchasing the 3DS? Perhaps you’re just not into portable gaming. Maybe you don’t have the money just yet. It could also be the current software lineup. I know there are quite a few gamers that are waiting until Ocarina of Time 3D hits before jumping in. Any and all reasons are valid, and I’d love to hear what you guys have to say. Leave a comment and let us know!
