Happy belated 15th birthday, Pokemon! On February 27th, 1996, Pokemon Red and Green were released in Japan to a dying Gameboy platform, though they had been in production since 1990. With 150 Pokemon (and one hidden Pokemon, unbeknownst to Nintendo), 15 years later, it’s one of the most popular gaming franchises on the planet with almost 650 Pokemon now! Thank you Satoshi Tajiri, Ken Sugimori, and Junichi Masuda for changing our lives!
Wow, another Pokémon event is going on right now over at your local GameStop. The event started February 5th and runs through the 21st. For this limited time you will be able to download Celebi, the Time Traveling Pokémon, for Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platnium, HeartGold, or SoulSilver.
Your new Celebi will know the move Nasty Plot, which greatly increases Celebi’s Special Attack stat. You will be able to strengthen another move, Leaf Storm, which is a Grass-type mow. Celebi also knows Recover. which will regain lost HP, and Heal Wish, which will cause Celebi to faint but it will completely heal the next Pokémon you bring into battle. Celebi is also holding a Joboca Berry, something that you will not find in your existing Pokémon games. When you plant this berry, you will be able to grow more of them in your game.
hmm, I wonder what game will use Joboca Berries???

Our friends over at TopToyLists.com have put together a great launch list for the Nintendo 3DS. So, are you getting one or are you waiting?? Either way, check out the list and let us know what you are most excited about!!
Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will be here in just a few short weeks, and like you, we are super excited. From everything you’ve read about the next big Pokémon game, which version will you be playing in March?
Your local GameStop has a cool promotion starting on January 3rd and running through to February 6th.
Stop in with your DS or DSi with Soul Silver or Heart Gold to download Shiny Raikou, Shiny Entei and Shiny Suicune. See the images below for more information. Let me know if you see this same offer available at ToysRUs or other toy stores.
This last poster talks about capturing Dark-type Pokémon: Transfer your Shiny Raikou into Pokémon Black Version or White Version, Available Spring 2011, for a chance to catch the new Dark-type Pokémon Zoroark. This is the only way to battle and catch Zoroark in the games.
Despite being on the same hardware as the last main entry in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Black/White is a definite technical step up from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. If anything, the fact that Game Freak was stuck with “the old DS” seems to have just pushed them harder to try to impress us. Unlike with past Pokémon sequels, they couldn’t rely on the the power of new hardware to impress the crowds. Instead, they had to pour every ounce of imagination and craftmanship into the game as they could, and it shows. It’s hard to go back to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum now that I’ve been spoiled by Pokémon White
So far, Pokemon Black & White have sold over 2.5 million copies in Japan – March 2011 can’t come here fast enough!!
Make sure you read more of the “Hands On: Pokemon White” at Destructoid!
How many of you have seen the shiny Ponyta or any other shiny Pokemon?
You maybe asking yourself “How do I get a shiny Ponyta?”
The best way to get a shiny Ponyta is to chain them. It is by far the most effective and time-saving way of all the methods to getting a shiny Pokemon. This method will increase the chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon to 1/40 if you do it right. Read more here: http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=19695
