The latest issue of CoroCoro magazine has announced that next month’s issue will reveal a new Pokemon game. Since CoroCoro is always the first to bring new Pokemon news to light, it’s possible that last month’s announcement from Dengeki Nintendo will also turn out to be the same sort of statement (an announcement about an upcoming announcement). However, the latter did say they would be revealing actual game information, so we’ll see within the next week or so whether that promise will hold true or not.

On February 5, the thirteenth Pokémon movie aired on Cartoon Network. Ten minutes of Zoroark: Master of Illusions was cut from the beginning of the movie, causing two plot holes. TPCi was not aware of the cut prior to airing, and has since contacted Cartoon Network. All future airings of the movie will have the missing intro.

The official Japanese Pokemon movie website has updated with a countdown clock which will reveal a new Legendary Pokemon on February 15th. This new Pokemon will star with Victini and Zekrom in Victini and the Dark Hero: Zekrom. The only “new” Pokemon are Black and White‘s hidden Legendary Pokemon Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect, and since it’s too early for new forme changes to be revealed, it will obviously be Keldeo, the fourth and additional member of Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion’s trio.
Since CoroCoro magazine will be released on the 15th, we can assume it will reveal the “new” Pokemon as well. Scans of the magazine will likely leak a day or two before its official release which means we should have confirmation of the announcement and perhaps a teaser of Keldeo’s role in the movie in only a few days from now.

It all started with a legend passed down from the People of the Water… Somewhere in this world, there is a Sea Temple created by the People of the Water. The Sea Temple contains a hidden treasure called the Sea Crown, but no one has ever seen the Sea Crown, or even the Sea Temple, because the temple is protected by a secret mechanism. The temple drifts through a vast ocean undetected, waiting… waiting…

POKEMON:LUCARIO AND THE MYSTERY OF ME – DVD MovieLucario and the Mystery of Mew, the eighth Pokémon movie, ranks as one of the best features in this popular franchise. Director Kunihiko Yuyama and writer Hideki Sonoda sensibly keep the adventures and threats to a scale that’s appropriate for the characters. (The first movies put the world at risk, and while Ash Ketchum is a good kid, he’s not someone who can credibly save the planet.) Ash, Brock, Max, and May journey to Cameron Palace for a tou

You’re kidding, me. News about an American version of DEATH NOTE that doesn’t concern Zac Ephron?! Deadline’s got the fairly significant scoop that Shane Black has signed on to direct a feature version of this beloved series about heart attacks, demons and righteous judgment. I know there’s plenty of overlap in audiences in these circles, but if you’re unfamiliar with Mr. Black, he was pretty much the #1 Hollywood screenwriter in the late 80s and early 90s. He wrote things like LETHAL WEAPON and THE LAST BOY SCOUT, and broke industry records when he got paid $ 4 million for a script once. Lately, he’s turned to directing and his last effort was the criminally-underrated “buddy noir” KISS KISS, BANG BANG.
I’m sure the prospect of any Hollywood person on this project would probably make many of lunatics want to write your own names down in the book, but take assurance in the fact that Black is actually a fan. And, considering how KISS KISS, BANG BANG was obviously written by a guy who’d read a ton of pulp, detective novels, I’m inclined to believe this isn’t the usual lip service.
So spoke Mr. Black…
“It’s my favorite manga, I was just struck by its unique and brilliant sensibility… What we want to do is take it back to that manga, and make it closer to what is so complex and truthful about the spirituality of the story, versus taking the concept and trying to copy it as an American thriller.”
Come what may, it’s a long time since I’ve been as genuinely curious about a potential film. You know I love DEATH NOTE, and I’ve been a fan of Black’s for a long time. He was one of few big screenwriters with an immediately-distinct voice and I’ve even studied the guys work over the years. While I’m still skeptical over how well things like Ryuk, Rem and Misa‘s string of coincidences could translate to an American movie (especially after those corny-as-hell Japanese live-action ones,) I’m really, really intrigued to see what could result from this unexpected intersection of talent and material.

Escaflowne The Movie strikes a darker tone than the anime series it stems from, but brings the same mythical action for which the saga is known. The realm of Gaia is ruled by a combination of magic and might. Violence rages and blood flows throughout the kingdom. A teenager, Hitomi (Kelly Sheridan), wishes she could vanish from her world, and does, magically winding up in Gaia. She’s thrust into a struggle for power between Van (Kirby Morrow), who leads the White Dragon Clan, and his brother Folken (Paul Dobson), who leads the Black Dragon Clan. Hitomi has a part to play in the battle. She is the Wing Goddess, the one prophesied to have power over the invincible suit of armor, Escaflowne, which is at the center of the coming battle.

And who is the shadowy figure hoping to harness Ryu’s sinister powers for his own ends?
