Time for me to turn in for the night. I won’t be taking off tomorrow evening, as it’s Cort’s bday! I’ll be taking his normal Wednesday spot so he can go celebrate, and then he’ll be taking the normal Wednesday time slot on Thursday. That means you’re stuck with me for all Wednesday, so get ready! See you in a few, short hours.

If you followed the news earlier today, you might have caught our post concerning the 3DS sales thus far. The feature focused in on comments from a pair of analysts. They gave their two cents on how well the system has done thus far, and if the Big N should be worried about sales performance. One analyst seemed to think that the system is doing well and is right where it should be, while the other thinks that the numbers put up this far might be cause for concern.

I think there are two big factors that have to be considered when discussing 3DS sales. First off, we have to keep in mind that the 3DS did not launch during a holiday season. The original DS hit during the holidays, and that will always give a big boost to any platform that’s just coming out of the gate. Second, there just aren’t many titles that are system sellers thus far. There are some great games out there, but nothing that people are willing to plop down cash for. Right now the unit is selling on future potential.

If those are the two reasons why Nintendo’s 3DS might be lagging a bit at retail, that means there’s not much Nintendo can do to change things. Good games take time to developer, and Nintendo is going to try and get quality content out as quickly as possible. As far as the launch date, that certainly can’t be changed. Only time will tell if the holiday season turns the 3DS into a top-seller.

Outside of that, what do you guys think Nintendo can do to increase 3DS sales? Let’s let you guys play armchair analysts for awhile. Even if you think the 3DS is selling well right now, leave a comment and let us know what the Big N can do to improve the situation. I’m sure Nintendo would love to see more sales!

Could this be the next Face Raiders?.

Have you finished messing around with your Nintendo 3DS AR Cards? You might want to keep an eye out for The Hidden, a new augmented reality game from Majesco that’s set for release on Nintendo 3DS in October. The Hidden puts you in the shoes of a paranormal investigator who has to search, capture and destroy supernatural spirits hidden in your environment.

Like the AR Games, The Hidden uses the Nintendo 3DS camera as you hunt through real-world environments for these ghosts

You’re not on your own though. You’re a member of the elite G.E.I.S.T. squad (that stands for Ghostly Entity Investigation and Strike Team) and you must work with your team to take out the evil spirits, including fast-moving Kamikazes and Tanks, plus solid phantoms with claws.
